Jamb

Also called door jamb

The vertical side members of the door frame.

The jambs are the two upright sides of the door frame. The hinges are screwed to one, and the other carries the strike plate that the latch and deadbolt lock into.

Most interior door frames are a shallow box of three pieces: two jambs and a head.
