Strike plate

Also called strike, keeper

The metal plate on the jamb that the latch and deadbolt fit into.

The strike plate is screwed into the latch jamb, level with the lockset. It has holes for the latch and deadbolt to enter, and a lip that guides the latch into place as the door closes. It also protects the wood from the bolts.
