Casing

Also called trim, architrave

The molding that frames the door opening on the finished wall.

Casing is the trim around a door that covers the gap between the frame and the wall. The piece across the top is the head casing and the two down the sides are the side casings.

The casing on the two sides of the wall is usually the same, so the door looks alike from either room.
