Operator
Also called crank, crank handle
The hand crank that swings a casement sash open and closed.
The operator is the crank at the bottom of a casement window. Turning it drives an arm that pushes the sash outward or pulls it shut, so a tight-fitting sash can be opened with one hand and held at any angle.
Some casements have no operator and are pushed open by hand, held by a friction stay.
