A wood window with a weatherproof skin over its outside faces.
A clad-wood window is wood where you see it from the room and metal or plastic where the weather hits it. The wood core gives the insulation and the look of a wood window inside, and the cladding removes the need to paint the outside.
The weak point is water that gets behind the cladding at a joint. The wood beneath can rot where it cannot be seen.
