Glazing bead

Also called glazing stop, bead

A removable strip that holds the glass in its pocket.

A glazing bead closes the open side of the pocket the glass sits in. It does the job putty does on an old sash, but it comes off, so the glass can be replaced without damage.

On vinyl, fiberglass and aluminum windows the bead is a length of the same material that snaps into a groove. On wood windows it is a small molding pinned in place.
