Wood window
A window whose sash and frame are milled from solid wood.
Wood is the traditional window material. Each member is a solid piece milled to shape, with a rabbet cut along one edge for the glass, and the corners are joined with mortises and tenons.
Wood insulates well and can be repaired piece by piece, which is why windows a century old are still in service. It has to be kept painted. Where water sits, at the sill and the bottom rail, bare wood rots.
