Rail

A horizontal member of a panel door that runs between the stiles.

Rails run across a panel door between the stiles. The top rail and bottom rail close the door at either end, and further rails divide the door into rows of panels.

The bottom rail is usually the widest, since it takes the most wear and carries the door’s weight when it is pushed or kicked.
