Rough sill
The horizontal board across the bottom of a window opening.
The rough sill is laid flat between the jack studs to form the bottom of a window’s rough opening. The window’s own sill rests on it. It is held up by the cripple studs below.
It is not the sill of the window itself. That comes with the window unit.
