Aluminum window
Also called aluminium window
A window built from thin-walled aluminum extrusions.
Aluminum is strong for its weight, so an aluminum window can have narrow members and large panes. The extrusions are cut and fastened at the corners with screws or crimped corner keys, and the finish is anodized or painted at the factory.
Aluminum conducts heat readily. A frame that is one piece of metal from outside to inside is cold to the touch in winter and collects condensation, which is why better aluminum windows have a thermal break. Aluminum is the usual material for storefronts and commercial buildings, and for houses in warm climates.
