Spacer
Also called spacer bar
The bar around the edge of an insulating glass unit that holds the panes apart.
The spacer is a hollow bar bent into a frame around the perimeter of the unit, between the panes. It sets the width of the gap, typically 12 to 16 mm.
Aluminium spacers conduct heat, so the cold edge of the glass can form condensation. “Warm edge” spacers use stainless steel, foam or composites to cut that loss.
