Desiccant
The drying agent inside the spacer that keeps the gap free of moisture.
The spacer is filled with desiccant, small beads that absorb water vapour. Tiny holes in the spacer face let it dry the gas in the gap, so the unit does not mist between the panes.
If the seals fail, the desiccant becomes saturated, and the unit fogs.
