A solid steel bar rolled into a T, L or Z shape to make the members of a steel window.
Steel window members are rolled from red-hot bar between shaped rollers. The result is a solid section only a few millimeters thick, with legs that do the jobs a wood sash needs a rabbet for: one leg stands up for the glass to bed against, and another overlaps the frame to make the weather seal.
Sections are cut, mitered and welded at the corners.
